The Long Way To a Small, Angry Planet

a chunky spaceship in front of a brown planet

Not a bad little adventure! Quite a bit longer than I expected (14.5 hours on audio), but I enjoyed it all the way through. The Long Way To a Small, Angry Planet was a great companion to the video game Terra Nil, which is a quiet worldbuilder sim about ecological restoration in toxic landscapes, which I have been playing obsessively for the past week and a half.

I've been meaning to read Becky Chambers for a long time (people keep recommending her work when I shout about wanting to write emotional, introspective sci-fi with 'low stakes'; one of my character flaws is the tendency to resist book recs if people tell me that someone is already writing what I want to write). I think I might try the Monk and Robot books next; this one is a little bit too Firefly for me to really fall completely in love, I think.
