in the manner of an academic book cover, a black and white botanical drawing of a frilled seed, with title text
Flora of the Gran Desierto and Rio Colorado of Northwestern Mexico, by Richard Stephen Felger

FLORA OF THE GRAN DESIERTO is the bible of plant identification in the Sonoran Desert. Exhaustive. Advanced. Extremely useful. I'm in love with this book, it's a plant nerds absolute dream. Its only flaw: lack of info about a plant's ecosystem context and relationships-- it only occasionally mentions a plant's major consumers, for example. But it's been immensely helpful as I tromp about the desert trying to get an intuitive grasp of desert ecosystems. It's book research--and also just fun.
